Street Encounter
Have you ever wondered "where's a cop when I need one"? Well, my gf and I were recently traveling south on I5 and there's LOTS of traffic. By that, I mean traffic is flowing along at 65-70 MPH, but, there really isn't anywhere to go - both traffic lanes full of cars. Well, along comes a newish pick-up truck, from behind us, trying desperately to weave in-and-out of lanes to make some ground on all us "regular" commuters. The thing is being driven (and, apparently, co-piloted) by young guys. Anyway, they manage to get behind me in my S (I'm in the "slow" lane of two lanes)...and it quickly becomes clear that they'd like me to change lanes for them to get on by. I'm not interested in accomodating them. This goes on for a couple of miles. Finally, these bozos get anxious...they punch it and are now passing me on the right...yeah, on the right...as in, the shoulder of the highway. Of course, sh!t is flying everywhere as they go by....this doesn't make me happy. However, what DOES make me happy is that I notice, around the curve, and only a few hundred yards up the highway is the CHP with someone pulled over. Mr. pick-up is jamming the brakes and throwing himself back into traffic nearly causing an accident. Mr. CHP apparently see all this and jumps in his car and initiates pursuit. It doesn't take long. Of course, me and the gf give the boys in the pick-up a BIG
on the way by. I wish I could have seen the look on their faces when they saw the cops right there....I'm sure it would have fit the bill for "priceless"!
