Thank God Camaro and TA were killed off. They were fast, but everything else about them was POS. They were relatively cheap to buy new and extremely cheap used (because of unparalleled depreciations), yet
A good friend picked up a 99 base LS1 a while back. This is the same guy who owns a couple of hondas -- including a 00 ITR.
He appreciates the LS1 for what it is, a quicker car that can be made much quicker for very little money. Their various faults aside, his Camaro is damn quick, sounds great has never been in the shop, has fewer rattles than my S2000 despite being 3 years older -- and actually is not that bad in terms of handling.
It is unfortunate that so many folks, often with zero first hand experience make such judgements and pass them off as fact on boards like this.
