I would think that a seasoned racer would have the sense not to make such a blanket statement. As you know there are many variables that go into race results. I could say exactly the opposite based on my personal experience, but I know better. Different drivers, but the same track on the same day (best times in parentheses):

..625..XN..00 Honda S2000..68.805..67.585..O/C..68.901..70.633 (67.585)

..546..YN..04 VW GTI..67.944..67.415..67.662..66.779..70.958 (66.779)

There's more where that came from, but I'm not proving anything.. Just that I was faster than the other guy on that day for whatever the reason... Regardless, you don't see me going around saying Mk4 VW's are faster than S2000's, do you?

edit: names deleted for the warranty police..

??????? And bragging about going fast in a straight line isn't?

Most people can't launch a car properly either, now can they?

The first time you truly push this car around a track your opinion will change.
Its easier to launch a car then to drive one around a track at its limits in the powerrange of a S2000 or GTI. Also, I drive my car around the track all the time at PCA DE events at both Mid-Ohio and Putnum. Even with my level of driving there are drivers that are much better then me.

Come on now.
Come on yourself there Snobby McGee.. He said "any S2000 will outhandle any fwd VW at the track".. That's obviously untrue for *some* circumstances. In this case the obvious variables would be modifications and driver. I never said anything about stock for stock with equal drivers... In my mind there is no magical land where stock GTI's are faster in any situation...

BTW, at the autox they change the course every time.. my only advantages would be my car and my experience with it...
