Trooper SUV kill--literally.
Ever since I got my S I've been continually amazed at how everyone wants to race. Once some guy in a Maxima with his wife in the front seat and two little kids strapped in child seats in the back tied taking me at a traffic light! WTF.
Anyway, this morning I was driving on a curvy two lane stretch of road (the Jamaicaway for you locals). Speed limit is 30, I'm going about 45, and I'm not about to go any faster since it's raining and this is the first rain we've had in weeks so the roads are slick with oil.
As I'm cruising along, I ease past an older Isuzu Trooper. The driver decides he's not going to stand for me passing him, so he guns it to pull ahead. The only problem is, we're now entering a left turn. Plus, it's raining and Troopers aren't exactly known for their roadholding ability.
Rain+speed+curve+POS SUV= you guessed it, spinout! The Trooper was about 3 car lengths ahead of me when his tail starts wagging. I floored it and veered into the oncoming lane (empty, thankfully) just in time to miss getting gathered up. The driver put up a valliant struggle, but eventually centrifugal force won out and he slammed hard into the curb. Over my right shoulder I could hear his tire blow out and various suspension components crumple. Amazingly, he stayed out of the trees and kept the wheels side down.
I wasn't racing, but I'm still going to count this as a kill.
