This dude wanted me to run his truck. It was a big F-250 turbo diesel. They wanted to run from a dig, and only to the 1/8 mile (he had a 90 mph govenor). They were rather persistant, and this was the first night out with the turbo (at any places where racers meet up) so I figured "what the heck". I had already heard some rumors about the truck, and the owner was a guy I knew because I sold him my RC injectors for his CRX...so I knew that he wouldn't challange me if his truck wasn't fast.

So we line up. I hadn't launched the car yet with the turbo so I wasn't sure how it would launch. I rev to 4K RPM but as I look away from the dash to stare at the light my excitement allows the revs to slip up to 6K RPM. I didn't have time to reset so I just launched at 6K. The truck, which was over twice as tall as my car (jacked up), took off hard at the light. I slipped the clutch out with 50-60% throttle and then floored it when the wheels stopped spinning. I glanced back and saw lots of tire smoke. Before I even got to floor it the guy had about 1 to 1.5 car lengths on me. Once I was in gear and 100% throttle he gained half a car...and it stuck like that. Since he only wanted to run the 1/8 the race seemed really short. I guess I was half-way through 3rd gear or so when he hit the brakes. I was starting to pull him in...but he did get the win.

The moral of the story is that 1/8 mile racing is completely gay.

I can't imagine having a vehicle that won't go over 90, especially if I plan on racing it....

you cant let that get you, you would have killed him in a on a 1/4 mile.

Maybe he was just feeding you BS cause a modded turbo diesel truck would 9 out of 10 have to have a chip since it gives sooo much bang for the buck- that would elimiate any govenor. (I assume the truck was modded cause it beat you.)

At least you know that i f it was a 1/4 you would have ripped him a new one.

I was behind Wes at the light when he ran the truck.. it was freaky seeing a jacked up truck launch like that.. but yea.. his top end was really sluggy. he hit the flashers before wes pulled past him.. 1/8 is ghey.. rest assured if there is a chip for that truck he has it cause they don't launch like that from the factor. lmao...

i've heard he has upped boost on the turbo, and probably caught the episode of Hod Rod TV where they put a shot of propane on a turbo desiel.. he'd have to.. to meet his claim of 800 lbs ft of torq. pretty impressive for a big ass f250 4x4.

Well, if you drove it right from the start, you still could've taken him at 1/8.

They had nitrous on that truck, too. Didn't it dyno at just under 500 hp and over 500 ft/lb of torque? Unbelievable.
