no offence, but it seems to me that the only form of "street racing" happening in the USA is basically 0-60 street light stuff, on straight roads. I rented cars in the US, and if some places don't have interesting roads AT ALL (Florida), some other states DO have roads that require a bit of skills to drive on. So why do we only get stories of "dragster" races? Do Northen California & Utah owners never push the limits of their cars in the mountains?
Also those street races don't seem to last very long... see this old thread : http://www.s2000online.com/forums/showthre...?threadid=10655

For some reason, most in this country only like drag racing... I for one don't enjoy it as much as auto x or road racing...

Yes, I do push it up in the Angeles National Forest (near Los Angeles) but so far the I only see a few others pushing it hard the other way, like a yellow Vette that couldn't stay in his lane! I'd love to chase/lead someone other than a motorcycle up there. I also do it on a M'cycle and it is easier to give-n-take with others on two wheel on those narrow roads.

Because most nice roads in the Bay Area (esp. on weekends) - like highway 1, 92 to halfmoon bay are filled with slow, road hogging SUV's and RV's!!!
