A red Mach 1 mustang 04-ish pulled along side me last night. I dropped it into 3rd 6.5k on the tach....ready. Set....Go...Oh damn. He instantly started to creep on me, it wasnt a runaway but it was convincing. I go into 4th, and he continues to crawl away till he shut down 1.5 cars up. ( i was about 3 feet behind his back bumper @ 105-ish) Damn. Re-Do, slow down to 45 this time, same result. It sounded really mean, like he had an exhaust. Either way I honked and threw my hand out the window to show I wasnt a sore loser. wich isnt true. I havent lost in a while so in reality i was shocked to see him getting away, but in reality a bolt on S obviously cant hang w/ a bolt on Mach 1. Any one else tried this?

Whats the difference between the gt and mach 1 of that year. I am pretty sure there isn't a huge power difference. How would an s do against a 04 gt? I thought the S would be it.

The Mach 1 has 305hp/320ft/lbs tq (underrated, it actually makes 320hp/340ft lbs) while the 99-04 GT has 260 HP. Definitely a considerable increase. Driver's race against the base GT with a slight edge to the S2000. The S2000 might have a better power to weight ratio, but keep in mind that the Mustang has a broader powerband. The Mustang, of course, becomes a lot faster with a lot less money invested.

It's actually pretty big, not even going into gearing and that I think the Mach 1 has shorter gearing. The motor is a DOHC 4.6 with 305hp vs the SOHC 4.6 with 260 in the GT of 2004.

Getting into 2005 is a different bag because the SOHC 4.6 in the GT has the same power as the Mach 1 of 2004.
