I have my car stored for the winter. Well I am about to take it out of hibernation (4 months) and I heard that gasoline goes bad after a period of time!!! I forgot to add some gasoline preservant!! Will there be any damage to my engine if I use what is in the tank. It is full cause I DID KNOW to store with the tank full... Go Figure

Thanks

I did not add stuff to my tank last year or this year. Last year things were fine and I drove the car once this winter and things were ok. I think having a full tank helps because it limits the condensation in the tank and therefore the fuel lines.

If I was storing the car for 6 months or more I would definately use a fuel treatment.

Well I guess this applies, I've had a boat for 7 years now and I store it 7 months out of the year and I've never had a problem. I never use fuel additives and I never fill it all the way up, except last year, we bought a new boat and I was told by the dealer to fill up the tank. Well guess what happens when gas gets warm, yep it comes out the overflow. So for several months I had gas soaking into my cover and running down the side of the boat. It melted the decals off the side of the boat. I could have shot the dealer but he fixed it under warranty. Anyway its an inboard V-8 so I don't think you'll have a problem .

I store my Dutch car every time for about 3 months in a row with no special treatment for the fuel. I've done that for the past three years and I never encountered any problems, so I would not worry about it too much.

The new oxygenated fuels with MTBE gunk up carbs in as little as 3 weeks. Fuel injection systems are more tollerant of this because they don't have "float bowls" that trap the gasoline in them.

BTW NEVER use the new gasolines to clean parts or worse yet clean gunk off your hands. The guys who load and off load this MTBE stuff wear space suits. It is real nasty stuff and at least in NY it is being banned because it polutes the ground water something terrible.
