Hey! That MY00 (VIN #5961) is the car that Graham Rahal bought on BaT just over a year ago for $50k ($48k+fees). Wonder why he got (or is getting) rid of it -- found a lower-miles example, maybe?

There is a fairly big difference between a truly brand new car and a used (even low mile) 20 year old car. I don't think I would pay $50k for the car that was at the Tokyo auto show if it was offered new. Sure these are nice examples but when you factor in what you are spending you are going to have to sit on them for a long time to get any sort of real return on them. I much rather find an example that has been well maintained but driven for $18-20k ish and enjoy that instead of having money stuck in something thats barely appreciating and that I can't drive.

Cars as a whole (with very few exceptions) are terrible for investments, especially Japanese cars when compared to others. When you factor in inflation, housing them, and a multitude of other factors, your lucky to to gain anything measurable compared to investing in property/housing, or various other options you have choices to invest your time and money in. Cars are a liability, mean to be used. Don't kid yourself that the s2000 will ever be worth someones time to store and protect for the next numerous years to make anything worthy financially of the effort, your just taking care of it for the next guy to use. Fossil fuel may more likely be banned for mass use before the S2000 IF ever got into worthy investment realms, and what happens to all car investments then if there is no fuel available for them to run 10-20 years from now? Yeah its a fun and special car to many of us right now, so go out and enjoy it while you can!

They don't even list the blue color correctly! Apex Blue Pearl was only offered on the CR and is a lot lighter blue than that. That car appears to be Laguna Blue Pearl.

In the binder the car does appear(poor picture) to be ABP but not on their website, LBP is the colour. BTW, ABP was offered in the Base S2000 in Canada but is a very rare colour.

Either car won't drive any better than a good condition used version at a fraction of the price. The new car smell is likely gone on those too after sitting for so many years.

I firmly believe cars that are used regularly will be more reliable than ones that are kept in storage for long periods of their lives.
