$52,000 out the door...is that crazy?.....
That's........ definitely very, very sad. If I were you, I'd tell your friend to march back to the dealer and tell them he's going to sue, or file some complaint, or SOMEthing.
Without a doubt, however, a claim should be opened with the local Better Business Bureau office.
And Honda of America needs a phone call. They frown upon dealers overcharging.
On a side note, regardless of this misfortune, please people, try to hold back from the insults.

Maybe I'm wrong...but if he didn't pay cash outright for it (and if he *did*, then he damnsure shudda gotten a better-n MSRP deal)...then this is a bit 'o hogwash -- banks/creditors won't loan that kinda money for the book value that an S2K brings with it. Someone tell me I'm wrong...
Maybe he used Carsdirect as reference. Carsdirect.com lists the 2002 for $5000 above MSRP with a NJ zip code.
http://www.carsdirect.com/build/options?zi...0&restore=false
could be higher in his zipcode?
still..... above $50k is crazy unless it came with a Civic
