Default *Damn deer!

12AM. Me and a friend cruising on the highway, low speed (55 on 55). We were just talking, going to a bar. Suddenly deer pops out of no-****ing-where.

...I swerved, dodged, hit the mofo with my right side. His head or leg went UNDER the bumper, which hit the tire, and got spun around, and caught on the plastic under the fender. Plastic broke, rolled and caught the tire, which was moving...and rolled the plastics...and ripped everything apart.

Damage:

Front bumper
Right fender plastic (plastic guard under the fender).
Passenger side front wheel
Fender

Car: 2007 Rio Yellow
Age: 3 weeks

Should I report to the insurance or repair the car with my own money? How much would it cost to repair everything?

I'm sorry your new car got damaged like that. Yes, just tell the insurance company about it. Good luck with your fix or replacement car.

Claim it. Many times your rates won't even be affected by an animal strike, though check your policy and ask your agent for details. 99% of the time, even if you do experience a rate increase (again, unlikely) it will cost you less overall than paying for the damage yourself.

You should always know your own policy. But as Will said, in almost all policies animals are "acts of God" and don't affect your rates.

Will be covered under your comprehensive policy. These are the instances that make insurance coverage worthwhile. Call your agent tomorrow.

Oh deer, what a mess, wrecking a new S like that would break my hart. I wouldn't pay a buck beyond the deductible though - let the insurance company spend its doe - the damage total can be stag-gering.
