Here's the deal on acceleration times on the s2k and 350Z. The s2k will run with the Z, or maybe ahead of it BUT it takes more driver skill to get good times out of the s2k than the Z because of the Z's higher torque, and the lower revs at which it makes it. The cars really aren't comparable as the Z is much bigger and 400 lbs or so heavier. When the Z convertible comes out you can add another 200 lbs to that. The Z is more of what we used to call a GT car and the s2k more of a pure sports car. What we REALLY should be comparing is the s2k and the BMW Z4.
Thanks,
Richard
thanks all yu guys with the reassurance. Besides he just learned how to drive stick and i've been drag racing for 4 years now. Just wondering! if he got good or something i just wanted to know.
The 6.2 time was acquired with the hard top installed. C & D had the nerve to throw the S2k into the same article as a "Sports Coupe" along with the Z, Mustang and TT.
Unless you own and drive the car with the hard top on all the time, this 6.2 tiem means absolutely nothing.
When I encounter my first Z at a stop light, I am going to stretch my arms look up at the sky, breath in breath of fresh air and and waive goodbye to him as he peels away, while I enjoy a nice slow 0-60 in about 10 seconds.
I bought my car to enjoy the fresh air, not to drag race every new sports car that comes on the market.
I drive fast sometimes, and consider myself a skilled driver, but I feel no need to prove whether I can do 5.2, 5.4, 5.5, 5.8 5.9, 6.2, or any other 0-60 tested figure vs a Z.
From what has been published the S is about as fast as a Z as tested by the experts in a number of varying conditions and that is good enough for me.

dlq04, my magazine is faster than your magazine.

0-60 4.9 seconds.
We all know this was a typo but I've got the magazine in my hand right now so I know I feel really fast.
