Here's a handy little link for answering exactly these kinds of questions:

http://www.albeedigital.com/supercoupe/art.../0-60times.html
"2000 Honda S2000 5.5 14.2-
2003 Honda S2000 6.3 14.9 (Manual)"

That's big difference for basically the same car.

The S2000 is one of the hardest cars to "launch" and get the kinds of numbers you see in car mags. You can "relay" any numbers you like to your friends, but unless you have mastered the art of the "launch", some yutz in an automatic 350Z or Mustand GT auto will outdrag you every time. Then you'll be making all sorts of excuses for why your car didn't perform up to "specs".

for the 1000th time the S2K is NOT a drag car. All the AP1's i have seen at the drag strip including my have never bested a 14sec 1/4 mile.

Like what is said above most Johnny Racer's in their S2000 DO NOT know how to launch the thing the right way.

I don't, and have no desire to drag or launch my S2k. I'll stick to the specs.

I would consider 5.5 "around or above" 5.2-5.4

and yes, I like to go with the 5.2 0-60, and 13.7 1/4 mile when relaying performance specs to friends
lol when you said above, i thought you meant "faster than".

for the 1000th time, we don't care. IMO one of the most annoyingly repetitive statements someone can make about the S2000 is "it's not a drag car". and for the 1000th time, here is my rant.

the S2000 performs DAMN GOOD in the "drag" aspect considering it's power, weight, and most of all, engine size and type (n/a). this is a fact that makes the S2000 competitive in other forms of non-drag-type racing.

so before you go knocking the S2000 owners who drag the car, keep in mind that the car's straightline acceleration and performance are one of the major aspects that makes it a viable competitor in a road course or auto-x meet.

that said, people are going to straightline race/drag their S2000's. we didn't buy it because of its straightline speed. we bought it for the same reasons you or any other owner did. however, if we want to have some fun and do some drag racing, there is NOTHING WRONG WITH THAT. also consider the fact that there are supercharged and turbo'd S2000's out there. i doubt they put those on so they could compete in auto-x.

so please, if you come across a thread where someone is talking about drag racing their S2000, then move onto the next thread. don't bother posting the drag car comment. it doesn't contribute to the thread in any way.

All the AP1's i have seen at the drag strip including my have never bested a 14sec 1/4 mile.

coming from someone who DOES know how to launch their car the proper way, and from someone who tries to help teach people the proper way to launch, the car is more than capable of breaking into 13's stock. many people have done it. if you can't, and the conditions are appropriate, then you need to practice your techniques more.

it's not as difficult as people make it out to be. i have videos showing what a proper launch looks like if you want to see.

But you see, those "specs" are based on launching the car hard and doing it perfectly. Magazine race all you like, but if you're not going to launch your car when you shoot the sh!t with your buddies, what's the point? What are you going to do when one of them calls on you? You gonna go out and "pu$$y launch" your car against the other guy's automatic "zippity doo dah" V8-mobile?
