This thread reminds me why I need to remove the clutch delay in my 05. I can't wait to be able to actually launch the car like the AP1 I owned before...

As for the guy ranting about "it ain't a drag car"...get over it, people are going to use the car for what they want at any given time. It's faster than a lot of cars that people would consider "drag" cars (Previous Gen GT stang for example). This car is well rounded.

while i understand the humor, I think you're also trying to force your entire personal choices and opinions on the rest of us.

i dont need someone to tell me what is and isn't fun to do with my car. I enjoy both track racing and straightline drag racing. both are fun to me, and both are rewarding in their own ways.

you say "if you get your panties in a bunch" but then you continue on your rant and say some pretty back-handed statements. pardon if i lose respect for someone who feels that everyone has to enjoy their car the same way you do, just because you feel your way is the correct way. that's a bit too elitest for my tastes.
I'm glad you enjoy your car, and I hope with the S2000, everyone does. I just feel this redneck U.S. society has covered the eyes of many enthusiasts of other ways to have fun and enjoy a car. I know where I live, the local drag strip's attendence is enormously bigger than any Auto X turnout. And I've found maturity of the two different parties to be at a different level as well. I think that is becoming evident in this forum also.

I don't feel there is a right or wrong way to own or use your car, I have my preferences, as you have yours, I'm just putting a different spin on the mentality of how to use it. Many, aren't aware of how much fun Auto X or tracking is, so they never give it a try, and go through the ownership of a car like this missing out. I know first hand, I use to be very big into drag racing, only cared about HP. I found out a lot of stuff from this forum, and am glad there were people here to push me into road racing.

I think the S2000 is a very fun car, comparable to the likes of the Lotus Elise except more usable for the everyday driver. I'm willing to bet in the Elise forums they don't many of these topics. They're car is fast in a straight line, but like the S2000, is a dream in the turns.

[QUOTE=xviper,Jan 17 2006, 07:48 PM]Well, the technique is not as simple as revving up to a given rpm and dropping the clutch.

[QUOTE=Highrpmek,Jan 17 2006, 10:02 PM]Driving an S2000 on a Road course or auto X is like screwing a $$$$$$ star.

Racing an S2000 at the drag strip is like screwing a fat chick.

Amazingly, I remember a Road and Track issue that compared the S2000, it was an AP1, to a bunch of cars. NSX, Boxster, 911TT, Vette.....

They actually listed the 0-60 at 4.9.

I'd love to meet the guy who pulled that off.
I believe that the time posted in that article was a typo. IIRC, the s2k and NSX times were accidentally switched.

I'm not positive, but I believe I remember reading their correction in a later issue, and if my memory isn't playing tricks on me, you are absolutely correct.

Well I got bored reading all the BS so I figured I'd just reply. With good tires on my car, I get a pretty good launch using the stutter box feature of the EMS set to 5500rpm and basically dumping the clutch. There's a little wheel spin, letting me know the tires broke loose instead of the diff and then it quickly hooks right up and stays in VTEC the whole time. And it feels balls to floor fast...so I assume its good. Nice thing about the stutter box, my foot just stays on the floor.
