01 S2000 vs 92 NSX...Which one to get?
Couple more thoughts.
1) Please, please, please don't buy an automatic NSX. The very thought of this makes my cringe.
2) I believe a set of golf clubs in a soft bag will fit in the NSX trunk. A hard bag will not fit. The trunks is not that large but it is uniformly shaped. In other words, it doesn't have the bumps, humps, and dips that our trunks have.
3) If it hasn't been suggested before, I recommend you check out sites like NSXprime and NSXSC. These sites have a tremendous amount of information on them and are invaluable from the standpoint of reaching real owners.
4) An older NSX is not likely to depreciate as much as a new NSX in terms of real dollars or percentage of price paid. Simply put, most of the depreciation of these cars has already happened.
5) The offset of this is that the NSX is going to be more expensivve in the realm of repairs and maintenance. Not that they're not unreliable but a 8 -10 year old car is simply going to need more $ put into it. Think shocks, think bigger services (60K or 100K services), think brakes and trim pieces.
6) The NSX is much, much more expensive to insure than the S. At least that has been my experience as I am shopping around. A 1992 NSX, for example is nearly 25% more expensive for me to insure (same coverages, deductibles, etc.) than my 2001 S. The reason, the aluminum space frame and the costs of repairing it.

Was that the one with the yellow S2000 that crashed? I remember seeing a picture of a yellow S2000 that had hit a telephone pole or went off the road and landed in a ditch or something. I think I may have seen that on NSXprime.
I know about NSX prime and NSXsc because I mod the NSX/S2000 forum over on Superhonda. I don't post on the NSX sites much, but I'm always diggin for info there. They have some great information, whoever put together the FAQ's at NSXprime spent a lot of time.
I agree that automatic NSX's are a real shame, I guess they felt they had to appease the 2% of people who want the auto. Now I hear they're coming out with an auto S2000, what's the world coming to?
I'll have to see for myself about the clubs, worst case I could throw them in the passenger seat or only take what I need in a soft bag. I was at the golfcourse today, beautiful day out here. I exchanged waves with a guy in a yellow F360 Modena spider on my way home, awesome car! We both had our tops down, can't beat that for it being early November.
I'll keep an eye out for your next meet. I assume it would be around the same time next summer? Sounds like fun and no accidents please.
I'm afraid to even try getting a quote from my insurance company for an NSX. By the time I'd get one I'll be 25, so that will help. I pay $3400 a year now, so an NSX would be herrendous. I'm sure that aluminum body costs a fortune to fix though, so it makes sense.
