'01 stock speaker upgrade

I purchased these speakers from Handa. They sound a thousand times better than the stock units. I can't believe its the same radio. You just remove the door panels, remove old speakers and put in new ones. They fit in the same spot using the same screw holes and wiring. The whole thing took me about an hour to do both sides. I purchased a service manual when I got the car so taking off the door panels was easy. This sounds great when the top is up, but not loud enough when the top is down.

Curious.. what are the cones made out of on the honda upgrade speakers? Plastic or paper - ma'am?

I'm not quite sure, but I think they were plastic. If they were paper, then it was a much shinier, denser kind of paper than the stock speaker cones.

Also, the Honda replacements had coaxial tweeters and weighed about twice as much as the stockers.

You can go to the Handa web site and see a picture of the speaker. They are made by Pioneer.

what makes me wonder is, i bought the upgraded speakers for under 50 dollars, makes you think how much those stock speakers are worth. maybe 10 dollars. I mean c mon HONDA.
