I hated the sound of my standard speakers, so I like many others have done the Lucid rear panels and changed the speakers over to Alpines all round. The model numbers are in my sig.
Cannot recommend how much this improves the sound. No need to change the stock stereo IMO, but I am no expert. Just change the speakers you will be well please

I am thinking of buying these 6.5 inch infinity's to replace my stocks in an 01'.

They have a directional tweeter that pivots upwards(Sounds cool in theory). They are 150 bucks on Crutchfield.

Would I be overpaying?
Do I need an Amp?
Or will I have enough power to drive these with my stock radio?
Will I have to cut out the speaker enclosures to accomodate the larger magnet?

PLEASE HELP!!

Crutchfield?

You are likely to pay too much. Specially after shipping and taxes.
Best bet to go to your local CAR Audio store with exactly what you want in mind.

Lucid can probably sell you a fool proof package.

I had this same radio in my 99si only in addition to the two door speakers it had higher mounted tweeters and two rear speakers, the sound was much better.

I will look at speakers with tweeters now, good thread, Thanx all.

I also replaced my stock speakers with the set from Handa. Big improvement. I can live with these speakers.
