Help installing speakers
Hey guys.
I'm a noob at this speakers stuff. I need some help re-installing stock speakers.
The speakers on my car sound like crap and I think the speakers may be blown (there is a cracking sound). I compared it with other s2k's that are stock and the others sound better than mine.
I got a set of 2005 s2k stock speakers to swap in (my car is 2004).
However, I don't know how to connect them because the current speakers in the car are Infinity Kappa with some weird wiring.
See pics please.
Can any one help?
Thanks.
Here is the stock speaker. It looks like I need some kinda plug?

And here is the speaker currently in the car.

Hmmm... whoever hooked your speakers up is a jackass.
First of all, the wires are backwards. A black stripe should be used to indicate the negative wire. Maybe the wires are hooked up backwards on both ends, but that proves that this was a poor install.
Secondly, I'm surprised that someone didn't use a female connector and soldered the wire to the terminal. Amateur-ish.
As far as the install goes you can probably make the connections work by snipping the negative wire (hooked to the positive terminal), adding a female connector, and sliding it onto the new speaker's terminals. I think they are standard-sized male connections.
The fact that you asked these questions (at least you admit that you're a noob) is reason enough for me to recommend getting help from a knowledgeable friend or shop.
I'd be pissed @ whomever installed your current setup. If you currently have an aftermarket HU or amp I strongly recommend having everything carefully looked over.
Hope this helps and you're able to get your install resolved. GL.

Also, it wouldn't hurt to try and find someone who knows car audio to troubleshoot your existing speakers. They might not be blow and if they are usable would be an improvement over stock.
