Rick,

You stated in a previous thread that you noticed some unusual hardware on your '01? What are you referring to? I've been looking at my car for signs of "hardtop ready" equipment, and the only things I've noticed are the attachments for the vinyl top cover. . .

Hey Iceman,

I have a friend that works in Honda R&D. He waited to get a 2001 S2K since he knew they would be hartop ready. According to my friend, you should already have the hooks and stuff in place for a hard top. My 2000 S2K will need a kit to make it hard top ready. I'm not sure what the hooks look like. I'll ask my friend to see if he can show me what he means when he gets his car.

I noticed what appeared to be attachment points around the perimeter of the cockpit. I'm headed off to St. Louis for a wedding, so may car is in storage until Tuesday and I won't be able to check until I return.

I haven't actually checked my car but when i bought the car, the dealership told me the 2001's were hardtop ready and had the necessary attachments whereas the 2000's did not..

I thought those hooks were for the top cover. . . Though, since my top cover is still in the plastc (never having been used) I could be wrong. . .

As far as I have been able to see, comparing both 2000 and 2001 models, their is no difference.

The hardtop comes with the new attachment points for the rear that fit at the 2 little rectangular covers between top and trunk.

Wrong Pepe. The attachment brackets bolt onto the sheet metal behind the rear side trim panels using the same bolt holes that currently cover the hardtop motors / hinge assembly. They have round holes to accept the hardtop locating pins. If they are on the 2001 they should be visible throught the nylon brush material where the hood arches are articulated.
