I just did mine myself yesterday/the day before. It's time consuming, but not very difficult. If they charge you something like $60/hr, my guess is it would be a good $600 for labor alone. If you're the do it yourself type you could save a lot of money. I'm pretty sure no dealer will hook up the defroster for you, they all will say it can't be done...which just means that they don't know how. There is a post around here somewhere by fmah explaining how to do it.

I have some information here regarding hooking up the defogger circuit if you are interested. Since I last worked on the webpage, I have been developing a solution for getting the dash defogger switch to work on the '00 and '01. It would also be useful for eliminating the console switch in the earlier models with hardtops. If someone has information on the functioning of the '02 defogger switch, please contact me. I need to know if the defogger has a self-timing function. I hope to get it to turn off the defogger if the softtop is lowered as well.

you need:
-canvas 2002 top
-double stick automotive tape
-3/16" (5mm) rivets (medium length)
-3/16" washers (for the rivets)
-5/32" (4mm) rivets (long or medium length)
-1.5" width black elastic (20" length)
-1" width black nylon strap (48" length)
-rivet tool
-center punch and hammer (helps, but can be done without)
-drill
-5/32", 3/16" drill bits and a smaller bit for a pilot hole.
-10mm, 12mm, 14mm sockets and socket tool
-screwdriver both phillips and standard
-a cloth measuring tape (the kind in sewing kits) helps in placing the rivets for the new straps
-needle and black thread
-gloves to protect your hands

Check out the library section for the pdf file on how to do it. A couple modifications on the document would be to leave the retainers on the rain rail loose, raise the glass top and latch, then tighten. Also, not mentioned is to remove the spare and open up the carpet in the trunk to remove the panels in the window shelf since it's much easier than trying to get them over the roll bars without scratching stuff.

as for the defroster, I haven't done it yet.

eticket has his done. I don't know if he had his defroster hooked up or now, but you could PM him. He's pretty nice about answering questions. I think he said parts and labor were about 300, but he also got his done under insurance and paid only the difference.
