Default 02' Prices givin that the 06' will come out...

Hello every one. I haven't posted here to much yet, but I'm on the forums a few times a day learning and reading from every one that contributes here. Well any ways my Audi A4 is finally sold and I have about $12 Thousand in the bank for a down payment, I was origonally planning just to save around $18,000 and buy it all off at once, but I figured I'll use the down payment and just pay it off. Back to the topic, given that the 06' will most likely come out how much do you guys think the prices will drop? I'm hoping to get an 02 around the 18g range, i definitely like the ap1 chassis more than the ap2 but don't want the 00 & 01 cuz the plastic window and other things. So do you guys think that the wait will be worth it until the 06' comes out or will the prices not drop that much? And how much do you all think the prices will rise in the summer time? Thanks in advance

i don't see how a MY06 would have an impact on the MY02 prices enough to wait. the cars would depreciate at a steady rate unless they stopped making the s2k and then it would probably hold it's value a little better.

edit: or i guess if they made the new models a 6k rev limit or a hybrid motor it would have the same effect as not making anymore. you can compare it to the MR2 when they took away the balls and the styling.

If you put $18k into a car that's worth $18k and the '06 is a reality, your $18k will then be worth only $12k.

If the '06 doesn't happen, your 18k will still be worth only $12k 'cause very few people will want to put more than that into a car that's 4 model years old and is a wimp compared to '06 competitors.

Don't be fooled by those who think that the s2k will go up in value if its discontinued. That's just wishful thinking. Its not an exotic, its not rare and its not an overperformer by today's standards.

And yea, I'm pissed that Honda lied to '00 and '01 buyers telling them that it would be in limited production for only two years.

And while I'm ranting, its not surprising that BAR Honda is in jeopardy of being banned from F1 this year because of cheating.

Bastards!

'02 prices will be effected by an '06 model the exact same way that '01 prices were effected by an '05 model - that is, none. The '02s will continue to depreciate at the same rate.

www.cars.com show '02s offered at $19k to $26K.

You have to look at MY00s to find a significant number of cars at $18k or below. So give it two years, and you'll find a number of '02s going for $18k as well.

'02's will start going for about $35,000 if/when the '06 model year is released.

Everything in the above statement is untrue.

Please start spreading that rumor.

As the owner of an '02, that is the kind of rumor I want floating around for the next few years.
