03 Left Over..Goods Bads?
Hey Guys, I am thinking about buying a 2003 Left over S2k from the dealership. The place wants 26k for the car. It has 240 miles on it, I assume mostly from test drives. What I was wondering was what are the negatives about buying a car that has been sitting like this for so long.
I would assume it would need an oil change right away, but I am pretty sure new cars come with a formulated "break in" oil, and I'm not sure how hard that would be get. Any suggestions or recommendations about buying such a car would be great. Thanks
Sam

Seems steep for a car that'll be worth 23k when you drive it off the lot. Look up a 2003 in kelly blue book http://www.kbb.com/kb/ki.dll/kw.kc.ur?kbb....2000&3;HO;S2&&&
Maybe 24k no more. I wouldn't worry so much about the fact it hasn't been driven too much just have the dealer change ALL the fluids. I wouldn't trust the break in oil after ~2 years of sitting around.

I was told it was the dealership owner's weekend/fun car, but I dunno.
Put 2.5k miles on it myself, and burns zero oil so far and the interior was perfect, unlike a typical demo which could potentially see a lot of abuse over 600miles.
Small town dealer, who couldnt sell a convertible in Dec in the mid-west....so it went to ebay and I bought it. 25k for a "new" 9000rpm AP1 or 30k new for an AP2, I'm quite happy with my decision.

If the dealership will sell the car + tax, title, plates, oil change for 26K, I'd say it was a decent deal. If they want 26K plus everything else...then they are a little on the high side. If it is the car you want, it seems to me a better deal could be had. Especially since it has been sitting there for 2 years... I'm sure they don't expect it to fly off the showroom floor anytime soon.
Are far as the oil change goes...do it! Even though the car hasn't been driven very far, the oil will get acidic. Not a good thing to run in a car the revs to 9K. I would have the dealer change the oil for you. Afterwards, add a bottle of Max Life oil additive. It contains most of the same qualities of the break in oil. If you need more information check out "Road Rage's-Oil Journal" thread in the "Under the Hood" technical forum. You should find most of your oil questions answered there.
