Default '03 Roof

I've noticed this really annoying clicking/tapping noise coming from the soft top roof (somewhere over my left ear) while driving my new '03 S2000. Almost like a noise you would hear when something stretches too much. I'm figuring it has to be something regarding the linkages/struts in the roof panel, because when I reach up and stretch the roof a bit with my hand, the noise stops. It then restarts as soon as I take my hand off the roof panel. I know it's a small thing, but it's driving me nuts. The car has only been driven in 40 degree temperature or less since I've had it and I'm wondering if it's one of those things that change with fluctuation in temperature?

Is there a fix for this and has anyone else experienced this in an '03 model? Any assistance would be appreciated.

Thanks

My 03 has done that exact same thing TWICE except my noise was coming from the passenger side of the car. It IS something, I have concluded, that has to do firmly with outside temperature. The only nights I experienced the noise, ironically, where also nights where it was below 35 degrees here. All the other nights I have been driving around it is not there at all. Also, another factor that plays into it is windows down or up. With the top UP and windows DOWN I get the noise more frequently which I assume has to do with the wind flow through the car. Usually the music is up loud enough in the car or I am revving so high that I don't even hear it. I am sure a little lubrication in the right places might make it go away permanently; but, for right now I am not bothered by it.

I have an '00 and constantly hear this clicking noise in colder temperatures. I used to think it was the plastic rear window, but obviously, that's not the source. It will subside as the temperature rises, but you will probably have the top down at that point and will never notice the difference.

Have any of you ever had the roof latch(in the unlocked position) catch onto the striker when lowering the roof? If so, this noise could be from the top being stretched a little, thus hearing some noise when you hit bumps in the pavement.

I'm sorry, let me elaborate.

If you accidentally forget to lock the latch before lowering the top and the hook catches onto the striker, you risk damaging(breaking/stretching) the frame of your top.

There is no TSB to my knowledge on that issue.
