So i don't know if this is in the right place but i finally got a Ap2 console for my 01.
i did some work to put the defroster button in the middle between the roof and hazard button. it's not perfect but it works like i wanted it to. here is a pic of it in the car.



it took awhile to get to sit in the hole cause the hole is set up for the 06 button. it's bigger then the button itself. like I said it's not the greatest looking but it'll do.

Is the cup holder door supposed to open by itself when you hit the button?
mine i have to push it open and i cleaned the tracks with wd40 but it still sticks.

 

Why not just rewire the other button?

I hope your flame suit is triple layered, this is going to get ugly....

yes why?? it actually looks alot better in the car.

 

AP2 consoles are pretty expensive pieces to be arbitrarily (or even not-so-arbitrarily) cut into unless you can make it look seamless.

Not gonna bash you for doing what you needed to do with your car, but if it looks good in person, the pictures don't do it much justice.

 

I like your idea but your fit and finish could have been a lot better. I would try to fabricate a black piece to fit around the inside of the hole you just made to give it a cleaner look.

 

yeah the pics deff don't do it justice. it's a pretty crappy camera anyways. plus the piece that I cut into can be replaced separatly. if i don't care for it i'll just replace that piece.
