'04/'05 Delay valve removal!
Or, you can go buy an '00/'03 slave cylinder and simply do a direct swap. Personally, I think this is a better, and cheaper, way to go!

I've had the luxury of having owned both a MY02 and a MY05. I recently traded in (lease return actually) my Sebring 2002 for a GPW 2005.
Here's my take on it. The 2002 does feel edgier than the 2005. The VTEC transition doesn't seem to be as noticeable in the 2005 model although the 2005 does feel stronger and faster all the way up to redline. I guess I just miss that big VTEC kick when I hit 6k+ rpms. The ride in the 2005 is much much much smoother than the 2002 without any sacrifice to the handling capabilities. To my amazement, the feel of the transmission in the 2005 is even better than the 2002 which I didn't think was possible. Only complaint so far on the 2005 is the clutch delay valve. Kinda annoying since I'm so use to driving the 2002 model. I drove my friend's 2001 and I'm convinced that I need to "upgrade" to the 01-03 slave cylinder or do that delay valve removal that was suggested by Billman250.
Just my 2 cents
Hope that helps

I love my S (02 with 35k miles) I have after market rims, tires, exhaust, rotors, grill insert, aem cai etc and the car is in great working condition. But I can not help to think about trading it on for an 04 or 05. basically come up with 5-6k out of pocket I think I would.... thoughts?
If you go for the 04 or 05, you will have no extra money for mods and higher insurance premiums.
Remember the huge depreciation your '02 took after you bought it? The same thing will happen on your new '05. It doesn't hurt to test the water though. If you can get a good price for you car, say $23k, and you can buy the new car for $29k, the deal doesn't look so bad.
Before the S2000, I bored with cars quickly and traded every 1 or 2 years. I lucked out since the cars barely depreciated. Unfortunately, the S2000 now depreciates near average.

I have an '03. I drove an 05 and considered the upgrade. What I loved about the 05 was smooth smooth tranny, greater low end torque and I like the different gear ratios. What I did not like was the softer ride and I really did not like the looser stearing. The 03 has much better road feel than the 04 or 05. The 9m red line is not so important to me. I also like the bumpers on the 04 and 05. Did I trade? No. I decided that the cost was too much to upgrade and the road feel in the earlier models is priceless. I just did not want a softer feel. I like the hard edge. So, it is all a matter of personal choice.
to me, all that counts is weither or not you want that 9k redline or 8k redline. i think those make or break the difference to me. but in my circumstances. i settled for the 8k since it was the best of both worlds. but if i did have a choice of the 9k redline i would of went that way instead. just as some said above. not all cars have a 9k redline and that was what stood out in a s2000 then any other car on the road besides i think a rx-8.
but not having a ap1, and owning ap2 i could say i am happy since i am pretty happy with it. but with nothing to compare a ap1 one except for 1 ride as a passenger in one.
happy deciding!! either way it's a S2000.
