I drive mine everyday, but I'm in Kalifornia, so that probably isn't as hard core as some people. If you're worried about driving the car everyday, ust get a cheapie beater Civic or Accord with snow tires for the ugly weather days.
The S2000 is a fine daily driver! The one thing I look forward to when I wake up is the commute to the office (I am lucky to not hit much traffic on my route). Using my S2000 as my daily driver makes every day worth looking forward to, getting your groceries was never so much fun before.
S2000 can be used for daily drivers with no problem what so ever, but I believe you should really try to get a beater car as a back up. By doing this, you will avoid many encounters that previous s2000 owners have experience. Such an experience are door dings, thefts, vandalism, and etc.
Beat up cars are also good for rainy days! I love my beat up car when it's a rainy day! I start realising why I decided to buy one in the first place. They are not too expensive and I'm pretty sure you can find one for less than $1,000.
It can get dangerous from time to time when you switch back and forth because I tend to drive my sh-tty car the way i drive my S...lol, but overall everything else is good!
Daily driver here and wouldn't want it any other way! Even if I had a beater I'd still drive the S more
Parking is a b*tch though...
Not everyone is as fond of their cars as you are.. so they don't really give a hoot if they hit you with their door or something..
The fact that this car is RWD should not be a limitation to winter driving. Remember, it is also 50:50 wt. dist. and with snow tires, is a more "controllable" car that FWD, even though FWD may be "easier" to drive for the masses.
Mine has been a daily driver for 3.5 years now and it's S/C'd the last year. Wanna see S's being driven in snow? Look here: http://forums.s2ki.com/forums/showthread.p...threadid=156779
Your only limitation might be VERY deep snow as ground clearance could be an issue. I've driven through stuff 10" deep. You just turn your car into a snow plow but it keeps on going. The following is not unusual for most of us:
And you want dirty? ...........................................
This car is NOT a pansy. It cleans up really well. And rust? It's over-rated. Don't fret. Just drive the thing.
I have a few other cars and one truck that could be used as daily cars, yet I still VERY MUCH prefer to drive my S daily. It's much more fun than other cars and fuel mileage is not bad either.
Oh, not all places are the same, you know. Daily driving in the North Pole is not the same as in Southern California.
