The MY04 makes more power. Stop tripping and get over it!
No, again, the 04 tested made more than the pre-04 tested. Presuming that this will be the case with all cars is incorrect (although I stand by UL's thoughts on this one and have my fingers crossed -- I aint convinced until more data is out there).

Very impressive.... Im sure if Honda rated the MY 04 S2K at 260HP and 180TQ they would make the 04 S2K more tempting for people who are looking at Boxster S, etc...

Another thing i wanted to add.... There is a difference between a dynapack and dynojet... The dynapack have 10-11% higher numbers than a dynojet... So 242*.89= 215rwhp on a dynojet 157*.89=140rwtq which is still more than a 03 S2k if we did the same calculation. I have a friend with an 02S2k with full exhaust, headers, CAI and he only did 210rwhp. So 215rwhp from a stock is impressive. Good job honda

The US got the 300hp/300ft-lbs WRX STi. It's possible
And what does Japan have? What if they released the STI here, but not in Japan, and only had the normal WRX there. Would that make any sense coming from a Japanese company?

Hell, we should have the EVO VIII and give them OZ Lancer!

I doubt they'd under rate it. Higher HP would simply make the car more appealing to new buyers. Why would they not want to do that?

Don't tell me it's because they are afraid of pissing off the older owners, honda is not afraid of that.

In any case doesn't it run the same accel numbers as the old car?
Low 14's 1/4 mile and 0-100.

Either way if honda did add power that just makes the old cars appear that much nicer to the common person. Most people can't tell the 04's from an 00, so if your really worried what other people will think they won't know any better. It will still be "Wow is that an S2000, aren't they as fast as the boxters?" or something along those lines.

If it does make more power it's not gonna be too long before some wack job figures out how to move parts from the new S2K to the old one. So at the very least we'll have some real power adding mod's to buy.

as i stated before the only fast s2k are the FI st2ks lol, ohh and that 268rwhp all motor monster that is somewhere on this board. I think its just that motor i think it will do 215 on a dynojet my 02 did 208, i think its like it was said here before forgot who, "honda went with more agressive timing and fuel maps..." that is what i think. would like to add that my 01 did 196 which is kind of low but i have seen some at 189, it varies car to car, would not be surprised to see some 04's do 208-212, on a dynojet, and 218-222 on UL dyno. Why does it pull? gearing. Try this an 04 vs 02-03 from 100 mph to 135 and am sure the older models will have a slight advantage since they will be in 4th and the 04 will be jumping into 5th. i guess its all in what speed an gear they take off, so stop hating love what you have and be glad if honda is improving our cars.

and yes someone please give her a cookie, or the whole cookie jar! J/K

Consider the alternative, Honda adds weight w/ the new improvements and the same power... The car ends up slower, we begin to call it "fat pig" and the such... Honda would never allow this to happen.

what surprises me is not the dyno numbers, but the fact that nobody is piss at honda for underrating (if it is indeed underrated). underrating is almost as bad as overrating. it's misleading and honda should not engage it in, for whatever reasons - insurance, marketing, etc.
