What I want to know is will we see a retraction of the VTEC.net article should it prove to be innacurate.

The thought of folks using it as a reference for years to come (should it prove fales) already spooks me.

I'm sure if UL sees enough data to convince him that those results were "abnormal", he will do the right thing and at least add an update/addendum. At press time, there was not enough information to indicate that those results were above the normal values for a standard 04. They even went through some effort (swapping ECUs) in an attempt to verify that they had not been given a ringer. However, it seems that it still may have been a ringer. At this time, though, we don't know what caused the substantial gains in his test car over the two 04s dyno'd in Dallas.

This is proof enough that the MY04 makes "considerably more" hp than the previous models.

If the WHP is 240 and assuming a 10 percent transmission loss, the engine is easily putting out 260+ hp (and this in a barely broken in car at only 700 miles)!

I always felt that the 04 I have felt much more powerful than the 03 I had driven before, and now the proof is in.

No, it's not proof of anything. The unfortunate reality is that we still don't have enough dynos to draw accurate conclusions. There are some dynos showing little or no gains for the 04's.

Articles like the one linked to above on VTEC.net are irresponsible journalism, selling unscientific data as fact.
