OK, I don't mean to single out the OP, but I don't get what's with all these people recently who've gotten into FG Si's and wanting to dump them soon after to get an S2000.

I mean, your Civics are pretty new cars, especially that one guy who wanted to trade in his '08 a couple of weeks back! Don't people do any research on their car purchases anymore? It's not like the S2000 was suddenly introduced in the last month and you guys had no idea something hotter than the Si was coming out. And on that note, didn't you guys test drive your Si's before buying them? I see some complaining that they want a faster car than their Si. Then why did you buy it in the first place??? Why didn't you test drive the S2000 back-to-back? It's pretty obvious from all stand points that the S2000's performance is greater than an Si's.

IMO, you guys are wasting money by buying/financing your NEW(ish) Si's just to take a hit on the trade-in to buy an OLD(er) S2000. This problem would've been solved if everyone did their research in the first place, but I guess it's too late for that.

Again, I don't mean to single the OP out but I just so happened to feel inclined to rant when I saw your thread.

No problem, your actually kind of right on the sense of not test driving the cars first. I was actually givin my Si as a gift from my parents, and about the car, It seems that if you ask if the car is right for you then its not? Sorry not knockin on anyone but the s2k isnt anything out of the ordinary by speed or anything like that. And I wont be losing anything if I do trade or purchase an s2k my car is paid off and I dont mind getting somthing different. Not that the si is slow or boring me I would just like to get somthing else from honda.

The only reason I want to get rid of the si is because I plan on gettin a 3rd gen rx7 and dd the s2k and was trying to get a little more speed. Lol no offense but the s2k isnt a ferrari to be acting like ''if you ask if an s2k is right for you then its probly not.'' Calm down Im just wondering if the s2k is worth the trade is all. I dont lose anything with trading my si its paid for and Im going get somthing else is all. Thanks to all who help. also the only reason I could think of that an si owner would change from an si to an s2k is a sportier feeling car.

Will this be your only car? If so, don't get the S2000. The S2000 is NOT a practical car. I don't care if you're single, married, one-legged, a midget, whatever---the S is a second or a third car! People who try to justify it in their heads that it's a perfect only car for them are in denial, and should never ever ever ever come to me asking to borrow my truck.

I think you will like the S2000, but if you really want faster.... the Si can be built to be just as fast if not faster than most S2000's. The K series likes mods alot more than the F series motor does. The S2000 just doesn't need as much foot work as the SI to make it handle good + its a blast to drive the S where as the SI is a little more average.

When its all said and done the S2000 is just not a fast car . Its a great car for tracking/Auto X'ing/canyon runs becuase it handles so well and is very nimble, but there are many cars that will beat it light to light or in a quarter mile.

For me personally I have alway's liked Honda products and will continue to purchase them (though my next car will probably be an older Honda as opposed to a newer one). For the majority of peeps I would say that is not the case, they are looking for speed first and then start taking other things into consideration.

If you are just looking for speed out of the box you should switch to Subaru or and Evo instead.

My point in saying that you're losing out is that in all likelihood, you won't recoup the amount of money you paid for the Si when you sell it. That's true whether it's fully paid for or not, especially since your car's relatively new and gets hit with depreciation the most. Now, if you bought the S2000 to begin with, that wouldn't be an issue (unless it's brand new you decide to dump it in less than 2 years, of course).

Also, I'm not living with Honda-shaped blinders on, thinking that the S2000 is an automotive godsend. It may not be all that but stock-for-stock, it outperforms the Si.

And again, I'm not really singling you out, just generally speaking.

Keep the FG. How you gonna sling parts over from Harry's shop with the Honda 2000?
My S is my DD and has been for 3 years now. I don't "need" a back seat. I don't "need" a big trunk. My fiance and I have her car if we need more room. We usually take my car on long road trips. I also drive mine year round (in the snow). I get bored of cars and rarely keep them for longer then 2 years. I've had her for over 3 years and don't plan on getting rid of her any time soon!! Well, in your situation, you HAVE another car to fall back on. You said yourself that you use your fiancee's car if you needed more room. That's the exact thing I was talking about. Imagine how frustrating it would be if you ONLY had the S2000.
