I also drive mine year round (in the snow). I get bored of cars and rarely keep them for longer then 2 years. I've had her for over 3 years and don't plan on getting rid of her any time soon!!
Well, in your situation, you HAVE another car to fall back on. You said yourself that you use your fiancee's car if you needed more room. That's the exact thing I was talking about. Imagine how frustrating it would be if you ONLY had the S2000. [/QUOTE]
I know what you mean and having the extra car has been nice. However, I did have my S as my only car for 1.5 years as my only car. Sure, there have been a few times where a bigger car would have been nice, but I gotta say, that there have been FAR more times where having the smaller car was a benefit. For example, at work, we usually go out every day for lunch, since I can't fit everyone in my car, I don't have to drive.

I had a Contour SVT before the S which obviously is a bigger car. It didn't take long to adjust to loosing the back seat and large trunk. I learned to adjust and now I don't even think about it.

I agree with you, for many (maybe most), it's not practical enough for DD use. However there are those of us who aren't in denial and can live perfectly fine with just the S as a DD.

Oh and I'm moving this weekend, can I use your truck?

i've had "only" my s2000 for over a year with no problems. no fiancee/gf/wife car, no 2nd car, no family in the area. i can fit everything of ordinary size... groceries... whatever. for the abnormal? i rented a uhaul when i moved from one apt to another. all my furniture and such has been delivered when i buy things of that nature. if i can't get it delivered i have a friend help me out... no matter who ya are or what you drive, one of your friends has a truck/suv. its one of those universal truths.

i have a friend who got a brand new SI right about when i got my S. he paid about what i did (mines an '03, bought with 168xx miles..) every time i look at his car i think... man... you could have had what i have. and instead, you've got a civic.

exactly. You learn to make do and get creative. I also never had a problem finding a friend who's vehicle fit the bill. Every now and then I'd have to bribe them with some beer but I don't mind that.

I sold my S2000 looking for something else. I didn't find anything else I liked. I bought an 06 si to daily drive while I figure it out. I really like this little car (other than DBW). Either you want a two seat roadster or you don't... pretty easy decision if you do, pretty easy decision if you don't.

Very true, I mention that frequantly when peeps get a little too haughty about they're S. However there are some generalizations you can make about the car that's not true about 'most' other cars.

1st - It is a 'sports car' and not much else. Some folks don't realize how 'raw' the car is, it's noisy, peaky, cramped, stereo is just for looks, you can't see that great out of it, it's got a relatively stiff ride and there aren't any creature comforts. But that's why A LOT of people want it, for it's rawness. Some will be dissapointed hence people will make comments like the ones we are making, just to make sure you know what your getting.

2nd - Since it is a spots car people drive them hard, it's almost hard not too and it's real easy to get caught up in the rush (throw it through some twisty's and you'll know what I mean). It's RWD so it WILL get sideways on you at some point if you drive it hard like you will. Add those together and it's a recipe for a crash, a lot of S's get crashed, just like other RWD 'sports cars' (FWD also but not as easily). So you get young people in a RWD 'sports car' w/out alot of road experience trying to be hero's and that's the end of that.

I'm not saying that you shouldn't consider it just that you have to know what your getting and if that's really what you want. I have 3 other cars, I only drive the S when it's nice, I'm 45 and I rolled mine w/less that 10k miles on it. I wasn't even doing anything all that stupid (except being on a public road) and I DO have some track experience. So $25k later I have a nice turbo, CF'd, custom S, I'm betting a lot of younger people wouldn't have $25k to rebuild they're car or have another car to use for the 1.5 yrs it took me to get it back on the road.

Just some more things to consider, it's a great car, I love the h*ll out of it but I'm pretty sure I wouldn't want it to be my only car.

The only reason I want to get rid of the si is because I plan on gettin a 3rd gen rx7 and dd the s2k and was trying to get a little more speed. Lol no offense but the s2k isnt a ferrari to be acting like ''if you ask if an s2k is right for you then its probly not.'' Calm down Im just wondering if the s2k is worth the trade is all. I dont lose anything with trading my si its paid for and Im going get somthing else is all. Thanks to all who help. also the only reason I could think of that an si owner would change from an si to an s2k is a sportier feeling car.
Generally speaking, the easiest answer to a question posed by someone as whether they should trade a full on coupe or sedan for a car as impractical as an S2000, the answer is no. To a lot of people, posing the question means you haven't really thought about the dramatic difference in usability. If the usability angle has been figured and you test drove an S, you should reach a conclusion yourself without having to ask the forums.

People here generally aren't overhyping the S2000 when they say those who have to wonder probably shouldn't buy it. It's far from a Ferrari. But it's not much more practical. 5 inches of ground clearance. 2 seats. 400 lbs rated load. 4 cubic feet of trunk space. Soft top. You can park it on the street whereas you wouldn't with a Ferrari, but practicality-wise...

Hell, my friend's FC can carry more than my S2000. haha.

Personally, my parents and friends have trucks and suvs. If I really need to carry a lot, I just get help. I'll say the S is better in that sense. You'll never get asked to move stuff. =) Just to show up and help sometimes.

agreed 100%. I don't think anyone is getting to "haughty" or over hyping anything. Hell, I've driven a 360 Modena and an F430. Trust me, I KNOW the S is no Ferrari. But the S is a niche car made for a certain type of consumer. Getting on a public forum and asking "should I buy this car?" is asking for a whole slew of opinions and responses. Many of which probably won't match your opinions in what you want in a car. So how exactly is that going to help you decide if it's the right decision or not?

When I was ready to get rid of my Contour SVT (still love that car), I was cross shoping a '03 Cobra and the S2000. Yes, very odd I hadn't decided which direction I wanted to go. I drove the cobra and was floored with the power and potential the car has, but it just didn't feel right. Test drove the S and I was in love. I haven't turned back ever since.

What's my point? You need to test drive the car and see if it fits what you want in a car. You can mag race and look at specs all day long. You can also ask other people what they think. But until you slide yourself into that seat and press the start button, you will never truely know if the S is right for you.

(and I still love it as my DD. She's all the car I need )

This is true and I plan on test driving one but its been non stop raining so I figured I'd ask, for now. Also I have fun in my si and love it too but want more of me and the car instead of me the car and extra weigh, etc.
