Default 10k premium for s2k?

i live in the so cal area. i've been going around to a couple of dealers and they are all asking for a 10k premium on top of the 32k car. Has anyone in the so cal area bought the s2k with a premium?

Tell them to go F themselves. You can easily get one for MSRP. Check the MSRP dealer list in the Library section of the site.

I got mine for $200 under MSRP. (2002 Spa Yellow). That is in NC and I paid cash with no trade in.

Here's my story....

About 2 months ago I decided to get an S2k... I had about 3 months left on slk lease at the time.. So, I called a few Msrp dealers in SoCal from the list on this forum. I wound up finding a black/black in Bakersfield at MSRP due to arrive in 60 days.. For $100 refundable deposit... I jumped on it... So, I felt like I was in a great position.. I'd get my S2k with a month left on my current lease and all was dandy.
Well, I made the mistake of renting an S2k for the weekend just to get a good feel for the car and to kinda hold me over in the meantime.. I needed a fix.. haha.. But Low and Behold I was extremely sad to give it back on Sunday.. I got back into my slk and i was depressed.. The guy at the rental shop said that he could get me one for msrp at Airport Marina Honda.. He said he'd call them for the following day if i wanted.. Well, I got home and decided to try it on my ownd.. I gave them a call.. "Do you guys have any s2k's for msrp?" I told them I had one on order in Bakersfield and was not going to waste my time for anything over msrp.
"Oh yeah he said we have 2 silvers.. Come on down!" "Msrp, I replied.." " Oh yeah, no problem.."
So I figured what do i have to lose.. I drove over there.. 2 beautiful Sebring Silvers just waiting to be had with a $10K MARKUP! WHAT!!! My salesmen, Gene Song told me not to worry.. "YEAH RIGHT" I thought..
To make a long story short, after about 2 hrs and a fair share of haggling, I got my deal... They tried VERY hard to get 2k over.. I got up and walked out.. They came chasing and w/in five minutes I had my deal! They prepped it, we did the paperwork, and I was home by 6pm with my new S2k!
I called Bakersfield and cancelled the following day...

Hope that helps.. They're definitely willing to play ball.. Just be VERY tough! Don't get intimidated by their BS.. Walk in, tell them you'll buy today.. Right Now! For MSRP.. Not a penny over! You'd be surprised what your results may be..
The 10k markup is for ignorant, wealthy people who don't know any better.. And believe it or not, they're out there..

NorCal is not that far to drive, and you I bought mine from my local dealership at MSRP. You can find them here in Cali for that price. PM me if I may recommend a good dealership here. Good luck to you!!

There are a lot of dealers in So Cal that will give it to you for MSRP. I was able to get mine for MSRP when they first came out. Just be patient and do your homework. Check out the MSRP dealer link too.
