If anybody else has had this problem please speak up.

Aaron, if you have those photos could youplease post them here.

I know another Sydneyite, JD, had this problem and had it fixed at the same dealer.

I'll point the dealers to this thread so they can see the history.

They should be required to replace either the entire motor or at least the short block. I wouldn't trust a dealership to do a full rebuild properly.

Harsh generalisation Rev,

In most cases I'd agree with you, and personally I'd rather a new long motor. Second best would be a new short block. But I went to Rick Damelian because they are a very large, very reputable dealer with mechanics trained on the S2000.

At the end of the day it's in their interest to get it right the first time.

Does the lemon law mean if it doesn't get fixed I get to drive the Spa Yellow one home .

Did a bit of a search and found mention of AaronS2k's porous block and pictures:

Apparently they gave him a new short block (are you listening Honda Australia?).

Hello all,

Just responding to the thread above.

I have had a new short-block installed by Damelian Honda in Sydney (with close involvement of Honda Australia who provided several senior technicians).

The engine component of the job involved replacement of everything below the heads with a new short-block that comes from Tochigi. The heads and valvetrain are retained from the old engine.

The engine component of the work takes about 4-5 working days and running-in is a good idea afterwards.

Mine has worked well since it's repair to the credit of all at Damelian and Honda Australia. Yours will be the third S2000 engine they have rebuilt this way so you will not be the first!

Yo,

JMD

It's confirmed.

A new short engine is on it's way from Honda.

JMD: Did Damelian's give you a courtesy car for the week yours was in bit's or did you have to pay for one?
