11 years and counting!
Twohoos, you've had your car one day longer than I have. I was on the list for over a year when I got the call. Couldn't make it to the dealership that day, so went Saturday (Vacaville) Sept. 18, 1999.
First my wife drove it ( it's her car), then I took it out with a younger salesman. All of the salesman wanted to drive it but the manager didn't let anyone near it. I hit 113 mph on the test drive.
Still have it today, with about 63,000 miles on it. No maintenance issues except the 1st and 2nd gear replacement. Oh, you'll see mine on the list, number 144.
I was also the first to sign up on Shelly's website S2K Fans. (see below)
The day I tracked it was the most fun I've had in a car (well in the front seat).

I forgot to mention that there was NO markup on my S. However, they put a bunch of options on it that I had to pay for, like it or not. I think it was about 36K plus tax and license. In the months following, I personally saw a 20,000 markup on a S2000 in a north bay dealership. I doubt they ever got it though.
^Yeah, I took some "forced options" too (Honda alarm, LoJack, HondaCare 7/100), plus paid full rent on things like floor mats and windscreen. The salesman was pretty straightforward about it as a way to effectively reduce the markup by spreading some wealth around to the various dealership depts...and at least that way you got *something* for the extra money! I was close to $40K out the door I think.
Worth every penny.
Worth every penny.
