When you guys are hauling ass and shifting from 1st to 2nd, do you...

a. Shift to 2nd and slam on the clutch at the same time?

b. Slam on the clutch and then shift to 2nd gear?

Just trying to figure out if the 2nd gear grind bug is still in my car...or maybe it's just the way I drive...

 

If the clutch isn't down before you go to 2nd, it will grind.

Be sure you have the clutch fully depressed before shifting gears

 

If you're speed shifting, the transmission shouldn't be grinding. If you're power shifting, it's supposed to grind. Most people think that power shifting is not taking your foot off the gas while fully depressing the clutch pedal. That is, in fact, speed shifting. Power shifting requires that you barely depress the clutch pedal while slamming the shifter in to the next gear.

 

I slam on the clutch as I move out of first. It's in by the time I start into 2nd.
