Default 1st oil change

I've been advised to wait for awhile before the first oil change.

When was your first oil change?

Some people do it a 1k miles.

I'm waiting for the 3750 that Honda recommends.

Honda knows how to build a car and how to make it last.

But thats just me

Don't have my manual in front of me, but I think Honda recommends 6500 miles before replacing the break in oil. Under normal driving conditions.

Who drives this thing under "normal" conditions? I think everyone pretty much runs the piss out of them! Change at 3,700 with a good brand of 10/30 and go synthetic at 6,500.

I changed my oil for the first time at 5000 miles. I decided to wait until 5000 instead of 3750 because I had to add 2.5 quarts so the oil was 1/2 new. BTW at 5000 miles I used regular Mobil 10W30 and at my next oil change I plan on switching to Mobil 1 synthetic.

Change it every 3750 miles - that's what the manual states.

I did my first oil change @ 4000 miles. I didn't switch to synthetic until after 12,000 miles based on what the "others" suggested. Some say if you are still burning bunches of oil, don't switch to synthetic just yet. The reasoning was that the synthetic may hinder the the complete seating of the rings against the cylinder wall. Even some people switched back to conventional oil after to going to synthetic because they felt they lost some of the VTEC kick.

During the year that I've been on these boards, it sounds like their is no "correct" changeover. Just alot of opinions...
