Looks like they staggered the release dates since mine was first registered on 3 Sept 99 (#355)

 

I know this wasn't the question you asked, but I collected mine in the 1st week of Australian release, on the 26th of August 1999.

At that time Honda released 400 vehicles on the market - average 5 for each dealership. Supposedly all vehicles were preordered but I had no difficulty in finding a cancelled order - VIN #00081.

 

I still have my origional Honda window sticker from my old 2000 S2000. Port of entry is shown as being Portland but I cant find a date on it, I cant find my first S2000's papers since I of course sold it. I believe the 17th was the target date that we got it. Every dealer did get 2. All 4 in this area had 2. I still have the sticker that was on that car that siad "$10000 dealer markup".
