most if not all cars below $2-3k are junk. s2000 will never be a junk car.
Not true. I bought this for $1200 with 193k miles in April 2010 and sold it in 2011 for $1560 with 211k miles. Bone stock, original one owner. Even the original dealer window sticker was included. Since it was a Florida car its whole life, there was no body rot.

I don't think it will ever happen. The demand will always be there. Because of this, the s2k will never match kbb prices. I have seen it with other cars and it will exist with this car.

Most recently, I was peaking cars and I saw a 1991 Nissan 240sx on sale locally (Cincinnati). I went and checked it out. It was in seriously bad shape. I mean the engine was hemorrhaging oil and coolant. The car was primarily held together with rust. It was a money pit. I would have taken it off the guys hands for kbb price, which was like $600 dollars. He wasn't budging for anything below $4k. Right or wrong, it was the demand that was driving the price up. It was the only local 240 I saw online for months. He mentioned that he has been getting tons of calls for it and a lot of people coming to look at it. It was sold in less than a week.

That's where I see our cars. Probably never scraping the 5k mark but once that happens demand will pick up and the price might jump up again. At 5k I can see parents buying them for their kids' first car which will end in wrecks which increases the demand!

It would have to be one of the originally model years with over 200k miles to get there.

I'd guess there will be decent running S2000s for $2k around the time you can get a decent running NA Miata for $500
