2.2L Engine swap
yeah, needs to be reprogrammed in that sense but the dealer I went to this morning made this whole deal that different parameters and that it was a very difficult job. There's no way I'm paying 3 hours of labor for something that is so easy to do
Your talking about two different ECU's.
One is an 00-01
The other is an 02-03
I just did another 2.2L swap this week. 01 ecu, API flywheel, AP1 trans. Basically plug and play, except for slight modification to make the AP1 fuel line fit the AP2 rail.
This particular car is a DAILY DRIVER, and the kid is pretty hard on it. So, just like the first guy, I will come back here and report if anything goes south. No need to ask for updates. If all is well, you won't hear from me
As of now, both cars are great.

I just bought an 01 ECU. The guy I bought it from also gave me a key. He
said that all I need to do is tape the key on the ECU and use my regular key
to start the car.
If this works, this will eliminate the need of going to the dealer to reprogram
the ECU and VOIDing your warranty.
I have not tried this yet since my car is in storage for the winter. So I don't
know if it will work, but I wanted to pass this along.

I recall a way to manually reprogram a key. Something about turning the ignition switch off and on for so many seconds or is that only for the remote? Hmmm....I know I saw something like that on here a few years back.
