2.2L Engine swap
I certainly feel the AP2 NEEDs a higher redline. It simply slams into the redlimiter @ 8200. Especially for mountain driving an extra 400 rpms could make all the difference.
8600 rpms for the ap2 would be perfect, and I am sure with ap1 cams the Ap2 2.2 would make power all the way to 9k.

Thank you sam. I didn't realize Deathsled purchased your car. I remember you were one of the first people in Florida to do this mod. I have an AP1 ECU collecting dust, but the thought of a MASE'D AEM in my car makes me think twice about the swap.

not strange really..... max power on a stock AP1 is at 8300rpm per honda.
after that it drops off...just like any other car....

Also, I think Honda has gotten a better idea of how well these engines are going to hold up in the real world so they're being a little more aggressive with the fuel mapping and ignition curves on the AP2's than they were with the AP1's. If I remember correctly, the early year model AP1's richened up a bit after peak power rpms (8300) and that's one reason they had the power drop off that they did. New AP1's (2002-2003) do better in that regard and the AP2's are better still except they don't rev as high overall.
started a new thread, but also wanted to update this one
impressions are that the engine feels leaner, needs to be pushed harder to go, but also feels more flexible. extra rpms give great sound and feel while keeping u in vtec. loss of torque noticeable at low revs.
