Default 2 types of materials for softop?

So I'm getting my soft top replaced and he asked me which of the two materials I had. (Since I got the quote over the phone he didn't see what I currently have) So he told me that there is two. Does anyone know the differences? I have noticed that later years seem to have a darker look but didn't know if it was because a different material or simply because their newer. If there is two different ones; can anyone list some benefits/disadvantages about either?

thanks

...currently I have a OEM 2004.

All S2000 soft tops are vinyl over a cloth material, maybe canvas, maybe vinyl. The only difference is plastic rear windows on the 00-01 models vs glass on all the rest. If you're getting a new top, you'll want glass.

As for aftermarket, you can buy cloth or vinyl replacement tops. I think cloth is nicer but it has its own issues with wear, cleaning and rot. Life expectancy is about the same though.

Just be sure to have the top frame sanded down of any burrs so you don't get premature wear again.
