2 unrelated questions (tires, recalls)
tires:
I've heard that many of you have had problems finding where to order the exact Bridgestone replacement tires for the S2000. Has anyone found where to get them? Does anyone have a recommendation for alternate brands in the stock sizes?
205-55-16 and 225-50-16. Any comments on how the car handles with the other brands?
recalls:
I don't have my VIN number handy right now, but the build date of my red S2000 is 8/2/00. About a month after I got the car, I called Honda America at 800-999-1009 to see if any recalls apply to my car. I gave them my name and they verified the VIN, which I thought was pretty neat. They knew my VIN from my name. Anyway, they said that my car didn't have any recalls that apply to it.
I've heard about having the top cover replaced. I haven't used my cover yet, so I don't know if it has any problems. The seatbelts though, are VERY sensitive. If I lean forward really fast, they lock up. I don't know if that means I need them replaced though.
Any comments on the seatbelt recalls? I'm just wondering what experiences other people here have had. I have read some of the past threads regarding this, but they were mostly prior to the build date of my car.
Once again, my car is a 2000 model, but the build date was 8/2/00, which was late in the year, and Honda America said that the recalls didn't apply.
One last thing, when you guys take your cars in for work under warranty, or for a recall. Does your dealer supply you with a loaner car? I only have one car. In past experiences with my dealer, they say they don't have to give me a loaner, so I have to sit and wait.
Thanks in advance for any responses,
~Dave

I just came back from having the rears replaced with 245/25/ZR16 S02-PP. These new tires are still narrower than the OEM S02's by at least 1/2 an inch!!
We put them next to each other, lying flat on the ground, after dismounting the OEM tire and saw width difference. Even with the OEM being worn, the OEM tire is taller as well. This is really strange!!
And we thought the metric system was standardized!

I bought two rear tires from Tire Rack about two months ago. I have to stay i was amazed with the service. I only waited one day for the tires and paid i believe roughly 200bucks a tire which was a great price...the bridgestone dealer wanted 330 a tire. Hope that's of some help
