This whole ordeal has definately sucked. The one thing that really helped me is that I knew my rights, I knew about cars, and I let them know it from the get-go. If I was just another S2000 owner who was a 23 year old know-nothing, I think I'd be in a serious financial bind at this moment.

VT,

I have to inquire as well. Why are willing to concede this as a one time deal? If it absolutely has nothing to do with anything you did to the car then there should be no "deals". The car has a warranty and if the same problem happens again and they again can't fault you it should be covered. I'm glad you're getting it fixed with a minimum of hassle over the cause though. Best wishes.

Maybe its just me being in the Cust. Service area I just cant believe how far it has gone into the varitable crapper! People just don't have any customer service skills any longer!

It is so hard to find a place that will attend to your needs and not just either ignore you or blow you off! I have learned to not tolerate this at all and go to the supervisor or even to their higher up. Its just not worth my time to screw around.

I know V.T. has very good Cust service skills and uses them! He did with me. Though I think this training or quality is left out in most businesses especially the Car Care industry. ie. Honda!(most places)

I'm with RT on this one. If it was not your fault, why would they not cover it if the same thing happens again? They were in effect implying that it was your fault.

As long as the warranty lasts they should keep supplying you with new pumpkins until they find one that doesn't break.

To clear the air, the only reason I conceeded with the one time fix is that I do intend on selling this car. If it breaks immediately, of course that would be an exception to it. But he said if 12k mile later it breaks, he would have to place the fault on me or the springs. Fair enough, I do think there was a problem previously, though I waited far too long to get it addressed.

I agree with pinky that there is very little customer service available in this industry. I worked in customer service for over 2 years prior to owning my own business. In that time, I collected one accolade after another because I was good at it (but it won't get you very far in life). So I knew how to play them, and I didn't start hard balling them off the bat, nor did I lay down. There is the happy medium which is the best route to take until it is not effective anymore.

Going to pick up my car in about 10 minutes. Hopefully, all will be well. Will have to ask about any recommended break in procedures and such. Full report once I get the car, and get home with it. Til then...

Hopefully, the final update.

Tonight, around 5:15pm, I arrived at Autoway Honda to pick up my car. Previously, I had called and they had stated that the car was done, so I left work early.

When I arrived, there my S2000 sat, in the parking lot, ready to roll. They were kind enough to leave it with the bird droppings that had accumulated during it's stay. How very thoughtful

I spoke with my friend at the dealership, who is the one that performed the majority of the operation. He said it was easier to put in than it was to take out. For the record, I recieved an entire new rear end, differential, and inner axles. The outer axles were not replaced, and did not need to be. We kidded around for a bit, then he had another job to finish, so I bid him goodbye and told him I owed him dinner and some drinks.

At this time, Bill Olivier came over to speak with me. He told me that he had driven it himself, and noted that he noticed no unusual noises. I should hope not I did not have to even sign a single thing, I just picked the keys up, and handed them to my girlfriend Denise, because I had to drive the CRX home.

The ride home was uneventful, normal rush hour traffic. It was rather loud for me, but I'll be getting an exhaust for the CRX this weekend (with some luck). Denise reports nothing unusual from the car.

Later on in the evening, I finally got to drive it myself. This was definately an eye opening experience , as I do not ever remember the car being this quiet. On one hand, it's probably due to my suffering through the CRX, but on the other, the rear end makes no noises what-so-ever. No clunking at slow speed parking manuvers, no whining, no take off cringing, nada, zip, zero, zilch. Nothing.

I'll go more into detail in another thread about it, but this thread is done. I'll include the link for archive's reference when I have completed the second part of the review. Three cheers for silent rear end operation!!!
