I noticed at an autocross that the Type R guys seem to claim that the present version is definitely faster accelerating than the early version. They spec out the same supposedly.

Any word on the 00 versus 01 S2ks?

What about handling, wheel alignment, snap oversteer, and so forth? Thanks.

Stan,

i think the 98 and newer Type R's have a different computer mapping thing (very technical of me eh?). That is the reason that the '98 and '00's seem to run mid to high 14's in the

observations:

2001 clutch does not feel like it snaps like my 2000

2001 Brakes do not feel like they grab like my 2000, in fact I hit the breaks pretty hard to test them yesterday and ABS kicked in, my 2000 never did this under same conditions.

y2ks2k, please keep up the comparisons! As of now, I think you are the ONLY one on this board with experience in both.

Do you like the '00 clutch better? brakes?

So far as I know the following is the complete list of "hidden" changes:

brakes don't grab as much (per above post)
clutch doesn't grab as fast (per above post)
stereo louder & cleaner(per y2ks2k's previous post)
upgraded fabric on visors
top doesn't go down as far (and may not scratch rear window as much).

Maybe it is the cold Wyoming air, but I'm THRILLED with the performance up to 6000 rpms.

My "other car" is a '93 Prelude VTEC that I bought new in October, 1992. It has 41,000 miles on it and I'm keeping it. It makes a great winter car when I put four snow tires on it. I have a trailer hitch on it to pull my motorcycle/utility trailer. It has about the same weight and torque as the S2K and it has 190 hp. I guess if the engine would hold up at 8300 rpm it would have almost the same horsepower. SO, while I LOVE DRIVING THE S2K, it doesn't make sense to get rid of a fine eight year old great winter car that only has a book value 1/3 of its purchase price.
