Default 2001 AP1 Totaled in Rainy ol' WA

So last Sunday morning, I was making my drive home after a long night of rain on the road and the morning drizzle, I made a mistake. I made the mistake of letting a driver riding my ass for going slow get to me and sped up. Going around a 2 lane Merging on-ramp to I-5 North from i-405 I was in 6th and sped up from 58 to 65 got in the outside lane and begun taking the corner, everything was good at this point minus my decision to speed up and my allignment not being done. The car was on18x8 squared set up Toyo tires on stock height, as I just got this 2 months ago. Anyways, so I am going to fast for conditions as well as being oblivious to traffic ahead, as I was exiting the corner I corrected my slight under steer only to see red brake lights ahead at the merge and 4 lanes of moving traffic to the left, and someone on the inner lane about to merge into me, I let off the throttle rather than dump the clutch and brake, I caught my lift off over steer and as soon as the rears locked and oversteer began I felt it pull me to the inside lane and I dumped the clutch and pulled my e-brake which allowed me to be facing traffic and slid a cross into the grass avoiding any collision or damage to others. I slid backwards thinking nothing about anything but losing my car. I caught a curb and it saved my life as I didn't roll down into a hill with a river at the bottom. I high centered and my drivers side rear upper and lower control arms snapped, rotor shattered, axles bent, the straight control arm bent at a 90 degree angle towards passenger side, and tons of damage. I will post pics, I should have known better than to treat the streets like a track, especially after fresh drizzle. And I am glad I walked away with not a scratch, but my car will.be totaled due to cosmetic damage and the rear axle and suspension damage plus I'm sure the frame and steering rack are shot as well. I hope this never happens to anyone else, the wet road gives zero error for mistake at the speed I chose to go, and slowing down from 65 to dead stop to catch the brake checks from sudden traffic jamming was not going to happen. ): R.I.P

Glad that your wild ride didn't hurt yourself or anyone else. Cars can be replaced. Thanks for sharing as a reminder to us all about safe driving and how quickly the S can become unstable.

Left lanes are for passing. Sucks you crashed your car, though.

the insurance company is giving me a minimum of 7700$ for repair, and will pay whatever the tab is to fix my car. They are giving my 2001 an ACV of $14.5k and did not total it. So now my question is where to get it fixed, and can I order per-say, aftermarket suspension on the insurance's tab since they are choosing to fix it?

Buy a low mileage JDM subframe on eBay for $900. And a set of Öhlins. Pocket the rest.

Part out your old subframe for parts that are still good.

From the damage you have mentioned you should be able to fix this car for ALOT less than $7700. I purchased my car from the auction with similar damage and I was able to source a complete subframe with all new a arms upper and lower for $500. Sub frames are cheap and if you can do the work yourself you should be pocketing a lot of cash. Be careful out there.

Check LKQ also I purchased a rear subframe for my crashed tsx for $149 I believe.
