I have a 2001 and have been in search for a hardtop. On hardtopguy's website it says for 2001 models add an additional $500 dollars to price. Just looking for a quick answer of why? Is there additional hardware or..?? Thanks in advance

 

They're not made anymore.

And the hardware costs more.

And they're well worth it.

 

It is all in the parts you need to install the hardtop. The 2002 car cost more and hard the part built in. The 2000 needed more parts the the 2001 did. That is why the 2000 kit is 675 and the 2001 kit is 500.

you need to install the defrost switch and the rear sockets on a 01; the car is pre-wired.

you need to install a defrost and sockets on the 00, but the car is NOT prewired.

you need to install rear sockets on SOME 02-03 colors, but not all.

the 04s are all set to go.

 

So if I bought a used 2002 hardtop and it came with all the hardware, I would still need to spend the $500 to get it to fit on the 2001?

 

Look and see it you have the rear sockets on your car. They're right the hairy opening for the top frame.

You should also get a copy of the installation manual.
