Didn't "Woodwork" (from Honda) drop in and say that 2nd gear grinds could be minimized by applying slightly more pressure when shifting to 2nd and pausing a few hundred milliseconds more than normal. I may be lucky, but I've never had it happen to me, though my shifts aren't the fastest in the world...

Just goes to show you that not all ostrichs are on failing ranches...

Both are great cars worthy of our respect. Only one has a great stereo, though.

Before buying my s2k, I looked at the new convertible Vette and gave is serious consideration. It came down to looks and uniqueness...Corvettes are like VW's...they're everywhere.

This thread isn't even worth the effort. The cars are very different. My step father trades keys when he comes to town and some of you here know what he drives....his opinion of the Corvette; well I can't post it here there may be children present.

Gimme a break about Honda reliability.. The S2000 is awful imo. I know 5 people who have had one and they ALL had to take it in more than once in the first 6 months for serious problems..

The Vette is actually a reasonably reliable car based on my experience. I guess it depends on who you ask. I think the % of bad cars for both models is about equal..

Oh, the original poster hit it on the nose with his post. I have considered a Vette because of the all the extras the Stewk doesn't have. I have also considered the Z06 for the performance the Stewk doesn't have.. And yes, I considered a Stook for some aspects the Vette doesn't have.. In the end I wanted a true sports car with a lot of history, class, and rarity, so I have chosen a '67 Vette 427 convertible... Hopefully I'll be driving one in the next 5 years..

-John M

PS - I sold my Stook cause my 2000 Silverstone("Camouflage") S2k got hit twice by people who swore they couldn't see it...

And on top of that, the 97 was the "rare" year with just under 10k C5s produced...

after that, each year has been more like 30k...

Some people would argue that mass production would improve the breed, others would argue that hand built cars would be of better quality...

Up here, after I sold my Vette, I started seeing a LOT of them...

After I sold my S2000, I started seeing a LOT of them...

I've got the WRX wagon now, and you dont see many... I see maybe 1 or 2 wagons a month, but I do see a fair number of sedans...

Of course, I don't buy a car based on its exclusivity... If that were the case, I'd have to find some bizarre, affordable car that no body loved... Maybe a GLH-S Omni (gag)... I know they haul butt and are kinda rare...

seriously though, back on topic... this thread has hit the nail on the head... each car has virtues that the other doesn't have...
