Default For the 2004 experts...another airbag ?

I know this topic has been beat to death, but I have questions.
I am looking at a 2004. My largest concern is the lack of cutoff switch for the passenger side airbag. I have a 9 month old son and want to enjoy the car with him as he grows up.
Anyhow, I was at the Honda dealer yesterday looking at Vans with my mom. I noticed the 2004 Odessey has a pasenger side airbag defeat indicator. Apparently it senses the size and weight of the passenger and automatically shuts off the airbag. Does anyone know if the '04 S2K has this feature? Was the Honda Sales guy full of crap when he descibed this feature on the Van? He had no idea if the S2K offers it.
Thanks in advance for the feedback.

My wife has an '02 Ody and there is a sidebag sensor that deactivates the bag if the occupant is leaning against the door, or sitting too close to where the bag deflates(side of seat)

Nowhere in the '04 S2000 brochure does it mention any passenger side airbag defeat features such as in the Ody or a cutoff switch.

So, I guess the short answer is no. But you could defeat the passenger side airbag via mod. A few have done it. You'd have to search, though.

Thanks Brother. Yeah...that's kinda what I thought. I just wish they would do something from the factory...when it comes to airbags...I am not a big fan of modifications that are not supported by the mfg.
I wonder why Honda does not have a key based cutoff like the '99+ Miatas. Heck, even Ford p/ups have 'em.
This bums me out. I do love the S2k, but I am concerned about my son's safety.

You may want to check this thread:

Not sure if the same method can be applied to the '04 through Honda but it's worth reading and keeping track of the results.

I agree. I don't understand the regulation logic at all. If I want to drive off a cliff, nothing's stopping me so WTF when it comes to airbags?

Thanks for the link Marcus. Man...what a hassle that guy had to go through. I don't quite understand why Honda goes through so much non-sense, when others do not. Are they that worried about being sued?

I think they are just covering themselves from a legal standpoint, it may be a hassle to get it done but one advantage is that it is a Honda part installed by the Honda service department so there is no issue with voiding the warranty.
