2004 S2000 Sales Way Down
I had my 00 for4 1/2 years and constantly had people come up asking me what it is. I'm sure the same will happen when I take delivery of my 04. Ricks badges help to mask the identity. I love to look in my rear view mirror and see people peering over their dash trying to figure out what "it" is. I had a beautiful young lady pull alongside one day and tell me the car is very sexy. Let me tell you, this old 60 year old grinned all the way home. Wheres that Viagra.
The real shock here are the sales figures for the BMW and Porsche. BMW execs must be crapping their pants about the Z4 figures. A friend of mine just bought a brand new leftover 03 Z4 for over $10k off sticker. The Boxster is just getting a little long in the tooth. I think we'll see a big drop off in S2k numbers for '05, as the free publicity for the '04 models wanes.
I was in Boston last weekend and I saw six, yes six M3's in a row on the same road drive by me in one hour! I also so 100 rsx's and 1 ferrari. Never once did I see an S2000...also I had some hot girls waving and yelling at me

I am really surprised that sales of 2004 models are not way up over the same 3-month period in 2003. The economy is better than a year ago and the S2000 got a new engine in 2004; I believe there are just too many non-S2000 options out there for buyers now than there were at introduction in 2000 to grow sales. Honda will need to change the S2000 A LOT next time around to recapture the old sales magic.
By the way, just bought a 3-year extended warranty for my 2001 S2000; first time I've kept any toy past the original warranty. There is nothing else out there even close to the S2000 that delivers such a great driving experience for $30K.
Not true.
I don't know where MT gets their data, but Automotive News has been reporting for the last few months that S2000 sales are INCREASING.

I have access to Hondanews.com as a journalist, and MT is way off. The sales info is asvailable to anyone, but some of the good stuff I get is from being certified, usernamed, and passworded.
March sales: 2003: 748 2004: 758 +1.3%
YTD: 2003: 1728 2004: 1831 +4.6%
So S2000 sales are up around 5%; 350Z sales are down; Boxster down
So there is surprising interest in the ruined 2003.
