I've got an opportunity to buy a set of red/black seats from an '04 for $1600. I'm 99.9% certain they'll fit the 2002 but just wanted to toss this out to check. From what I've seen these seats go for on eBay it's the going rate.

I may be able to get the red/black door panels as well. Does anyone know if they will fit in a 2002? Are the tweeter grills located in the same position in both model years?

Any idea of a fair price for the seats and door panels?

 

Yes, both items wiull install in any model year S2000. The tweeter pods are different, but I think the location is almost the same.

 

$1600 NOT worth it at all.....you can go to a good leather shop and have the seats recovered for MUCH less with MUCH better material. Honda's OEM leather

 

How much would you expect to pay to have a leather shop do it? My definition of "much less" might be different than yours. :-)

And what would you do about the door panels? They appear to be molded plastic for at least part of the section that is red, so they can't just be recovered. Going with OEM seats and door panels they'll at least match.

 

About half that to 1000 max.

They are from a reputable auto wrecker (LKQ). Apparently there were about 16 cars being shipped and something happened that caused about 6 of the cars to be damaged such that they could not be sold as new. The wrecker bought them and is parting them out.

 

I assume you're answering the "how much to have a leather shop do it?" question. Hmmm. Something to consider.

 

I've been watching the red/black 04 seats for the past few months that have come up on ebay -

I've seen a couple of sets of red/black go for just over 1K - I just saw a set with bidding end at 1600 - seats were claimed to be brand new - for me I might pull the trigger on the seats & panels for 1000-1200 - 1600 seems a bit too steep to make the switch...I might also expect to recoup 600-800 for my 04 black seats & panels -

I'm not sure I really want the red/black in my Berlina - but am looking at the switch if the right seats at the right price comes up.

anyone know how much Honda parts is getting for new Red/Black replacements?

 

Thanks for the feedback. It seems whenever I see a set on eBay they end up going for at least $1000 and then a few hundred shipping on top of it.

From everything I've seen, you cannot buy the whole seat from Honda. You have to buy the individual components and build the seat yourself. Rumor has it this ends up being around $3500 per seat! That's why $1600 for two sounded pretty reasonable.
