A few other subtle changes on the 08, no windshield tape and TPMS valves. I also heard rumor the suspension was tuned more neutral, less prone to understeer then earlier AP2's, but I'll be damned if I can tell the difference.

As for the seats and wheels that is obviously a personal choice, I didn't care for the wheels at first, but now they've grown on me and I am surprised how many compliments I get on them. I never liked the look of S2k seats, I thought they were comfortable, but the hole in the headrest ruined it for me. It looks kind of dumb for the seats to protrude past the roll bars but it's not a deal breaker to me.

I didn't noticed the windshield tape when looking at the car in person, but I see it missing in the pix online now that you mention it. I think I like it better with the tape on, but it is no big thing.

The TPMS valves? Prior to 08 they used valve mounted sensors? What do they use now? A band? Or do they just use the ABS sensors to count and compare wheel rotation speed to detect a low tire?

With the headrests I have I can see the hole in the seats anyway .

A dealer asked me what sort of shape my wheels are in. He said he has an 08 sold as soon as he finds some prior model wheels to stick on it. The new wheels don't look THAT bad....

2008s are the slowest S2000s ever tested. Do you need any other answers?

All the differences are outlined in the FAQ.

It's only 9lbs dude...that's the equivalent of .01 seconds slower than an 07.

It's a commonly accepted rule that for every extra 100lbs, the 1/4 time increases by .1 second.

Unless that 9lbs is in the wheels/rotors, I SERIOUSLY doubt you'll even notice a difference.

The 2008 also has stiffer suspension, revised gauges, and new seat design.

I would rather have the above for a 9lb increase

I didn't realize 07's came with TPMS valves, so it is not a new feature. As I understand it, the system used on the 08 is different then before, it does not auto-learn like other honda's. It needs to be reset to work properly, this is just what I heard I have not verified this information.

As for being the "slowest S2k to date" perhaps technically it is true, but the S2k is not a fast car to begin with. If you want a car to go fast there are better options, if your concerned with 0-60 times the S2k is probably not for you. The car is fast enough to remain fun, but it certainly is not a car for light to light racing in stock form.

Well I have a deal pending on a new 08, so if nothing goes wrong I should have it in a few weeks. I will either sell my 05 or simply turn it back in at the end of the lease. I think the pros of the 08 outweigh the cons and I will get a new car with a fresh warranty. I should have a dealer I can work with to sell the 05 car w/o double taxes, so once I get the numbers worked out watch for an ad over in the cars for sale forum .

I said about my 01 that I would never get rid of it, but I did for the updated 05 - liked the better tranny, glass window, console trim, less tail happy, more torque, but missed the 9k redline. Then I said I would never get rid of the 05, but I guess I am getting rid of it for a new 08 - like the DRLs, VSC, TPMS, long powertrain warranty, don't like the wheels and the new console trim. Seats are OK, I guess. Back in 05 we thought "this may be it" for the S2000, now here we are in 08 and we think "this may be it" again. I say get them while they still make them.

it still ran consistantly slower around Ohio than the CR and the 07 that was there. This was published in the SCCA magazine.
Lucky for me I am not going to be driving "around Ohio" any time soon .

Where they comparing the cars with the same set up and driver or were these just the results? Could be the driver or the alignment or tire pressures. I could beat a Viper or a 'vette in my old B-stock Miata - depending on the driver of the other car.
